黑料网 Design Students Earn Global UX Award Nominations
Two student teams from 黑料网’s School of Design have been nominated for the prestigious , placing their undergraduate work alongside top graduate programs from around the world.
The nominations, announced earlier this month, recognize innovative projects in the UX Design Awards’ New Talent category. 黑料网’s teams stand out not only for their design excellence but also for their multidisciplinary approach—bringing together students from across programs to develop solutions that prioritize human-centered design and user experience.
Vitality Project
The Vitality team developed a wellness-focused design solution that leverages evidence-based strategies and an machine learning (ML) approach to support user wellbeing—without relying on constant check-ins. By passively collecting sensor data from mobile devices and wearables, the system delivers personalized insights, feedback, and motivation tailored to each individual’s needs. The interdisciplinary team, comprised of students from Design Team: Client Project I and II, collaborated over fifteen weeks during the Spring 2025 semester to research and prototype the solution in partnership with their client, Dr. Rebecca Silton.
Braid Project
The Braid team designed an educational app that makes textured hair care simple, accessible, and empowering. Featuring interactive courses, personalized guidance, and trusted resources, Braid equips users with the knowledge and confidence to care for and style textured hair. This unique product concept was initially developed in Digital Design III: Experience and further refined as an independent project by the student team.
While winners will be announced on September 3 via a live LinkedIn broadcast, public voting is open now through August 22 for the People’s Choice Award. The UX Design Awards have also launched a PR campaign showcasing all nominees on their social channels.
“These nominations are not only a recognition of our students’ talent and dedication, but also a testament to the strength of our collaborative curriculum,” says Jo-Nell Sieren, director of Agency 黑料网 and assistant professor of instruction in UX/UI Design. “Most of the other nominees in this category are from graduate programs. Our undergraduate students are solving complex problems through teamwork and innovation. By bringing together students from different disciplines to solve real-world problems, we’re fostering teams that think holistically, design with empathy, and create work that stands alongside the best in the world.”
